Sorry for the delay in updates! I've been working on my next book, due out very soon. A lot coming up about this once I can confirm the release date.

I also have some good news coming for those book addicts who love to read on their kindle. Stay tuned and I'll update you guys hopefully in another week or so.

The new fall line up has been out on TV! Great news shows I've seen I'd highly recommend are the Good Doctor and Kevin Probably Saves the World. Both really good new shows, great storylines and so much room to build on their stories.

Movies I've seen as of late at the theatre I'd highly recommend were IT, based on the book by Stephen King and American Assassin. Both movies I really like, even more so then I thought I would! Thrilling movies, especially IT which is just in time for the Halloween season!

Speaking of Halloween, it's the perfect time to pick the Paranormal Adventure Series! I'm excited to announce that both books and being sold here on my website under 'Buy a Book' and come signed by me! Great for your collection, a gift for your friends and family who love to read especially for the holidays coming up! Don't forget to leave a review on Amazon & Goodreads when you do! Both book 1, The Ouija Board and Book 2, The Highland Curse are just .99!! A great deal to you guys to catch up for book 3 which will be coming next year. :)

Comment below what you plan on being for Halloween and anything you have been watching lately you really like! I'm interested to hear what all you guys will be dressing up as and have been watching.

Signing off, talk soon!

<![CDATA[TV Show News Updates- What's coming up?]]>Fri, 04 Aug 2017 04:56:19 GMThttp://shelbywhiteonline.com/all-things-storylines-blog/tv-show-news-updates-whats-coming-upHey Guys!

Over the last week there has been some exciting news for upcoming seasons of TV shows and I thought this would be a great time to share with everyone and discuss.

First thing up and the most exciting news of this week is that Will & Grace is officially back! The Season 9 reboot will begin taping next Wednesday and return on September 28th. Even more exciting if you remember the season 8 series finale you will remember that Will & Grace were bother married to spouses, had kids and were still haunting their usual bar with the never changing Jack and Karen. Having written a finale thinking they wouldn't be coming back to it, these plot points for future use became difficult so the creators had to think long and hard about the direction they wanted to season to go in when they were bringing back season 9.

Since being parents and having kids means a drastic change in the story we've all known and loved the writers decided bringing season 9 back meant they were going to act as if the series finale never happened. Will & Grace will still be living together in their New York apartment, Will is still a Lawyer, Grace an Interior Designer, Jack is their next door neighbor and of course Karen is still living in her big mansion. In writing the best version of this show and the characters, this is seriously all us fans could ask for. An amazing cast, storyline and characters that have great chemistry all will truly add to an amazing upcoming season.

Today they announced that without even filming yet, NBC will be bringing back the show for season 2 with all of the hype and excitement its gotten. I'm beyond excited for the premiere and can't wait to watch everyone back together again.

The second show announcement just a couple weeks ago at Comic Con that I'm really excited about is Wynonna Earp. They announced that the show will be back for season 3! This show is really great, so fun to watch, the cast is awesome and it's like nothing that's been on TV. If you didn't catch my post on this show, scroll down and check it out. It's worth a watch!

The final piece of news I just heard this week is that The Big Bang Theory, the #1 sitcom on TV right now, and one of my favorites has a spin of series coming out this fall called Young Sheldon, following the child version of Sheldon Cooper as he navigates life and tells his back story in another sitcom format. The great news about this is, it was just announced that the showrunner for The Big Bang Theory will be moving over and taking on the Young Sheldon TV show and they have placed a new show runner in his place on the The Big Bang Theory from the writers. I think this is a great decision because in the end it will help retain story and consistency on the Young Sheldon show while the new showrunner will be able to hold down the fort and collaborate with the original showrunner in order to continue on the amazing work The Big Bang Theory does.

There's so much more coming this fall and I'll be updating everyone soon on more of what's to come and good shows I'll be watching! If you have a show your interested in watching coming up, comment below and tell what you're excited to see!

Have a Happy Friday All!!
<![CDATA[Writing Tip #2- Keep Writing!]]>Fri, 21 Jul 2017 04:46:36 GMThttp://shelbywhiteonline.com/all-things-storylines-blog/writing-tip-2-keep-writingPicture
Ever feel like some days you just get stuck in a writing loop? You feel like you just can't get a handle on the story, your characters aren't cooperating and you just feel like your reading back what you have written, self editing and then continuing on? What happens though when we get stuck in a perpetual loop where we never seem to move forward or feel like we're happy with it?

A friend of mine, years ago gave me the best writing advice I could have ever asked for, and I didn't even have to! She said, "Don't worry about what you have written, making it perfect and editing it now as you go. Just write," and she couldn't have been more right!

Sitting and agonizing over your story as you writ will only stop the writing process. Seeing it a second time, going over it and really reading it as a story instead of pieces and scenes helps tremendously in doing full bodied edits to you story.

So when writing, don't worry about writing a sentence you don't care for or a feeling that you might need to suss out a character a bit more. Stick to your outline and story and write because after all, your first draft doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be written.

I'll be back later this weekend with another blog about San Diego Comic Con and new TV, movies and more coming up soon. Ended up being a comic can't this year so keeping my eye out for all the exciting news coming out of the convention!

Happy Writing!!

<![CDATA[Wynonna Earp- What Great Tv Looks Like]]>Fri, 14 Jul 2017 03:32:03 GMThttp://shelbywhiteonline.com/all-things-storylines-blog/wynonna-earp-what-tv-great-tv-looks-like
Hey Guys!

First post of the new and improved content blog and I thought I would kick it off with a relevant favorite of mine. The amazing TV show Wynonna Earp, which airs Fridays at 7pm pacific on Syfy.

This show, currently on season 2 on SyFy which is celebrating its 25th year as a network, began on June 9th and is an underrated TV show that deserves some serious recognition.

I’ll be the first to admit I was unfortunate to not catch this show until the very end of season 1 when I kept seeing posts on twitter and fans raving about the amazing characters, so being that I’m always looking for the latest and greatest new TV shows I started investigating and I can say I couldn’t be more happy with the discovery. With season 1 being a bit of a sleeper I had some catching up to do, purchased the season on itunes (now available on Netflix) and began watching last summer.

To my surprise this show deserves every bit of recognition it gets and so much more. It has a truly remarkable cast, amazing three dimensional characters written none other than by showrunner Emily Andras and company, and a story arc of dynamic proportions.

In true science fiction fashion, the story in season 1 opens to an audience finding ourselves in the small western town of Purgatory. There we meet Wynonna Earp, great granddaughter to Wyatt Earp, who has come back to an unfortunate funeral bringing her back to the one town she thought she had left behind forever. Feeling and posing as the town delinquent no one likes, she reunites with her younger sister Waverly on her 27th birthday, quickly finding that those troubles she left behind years ago are still haunting her and the town for the worse.
These demons, both Wynonna’s and in the literal sense are in large part a left behind feature since the passing of Wyatt Earp. Revnants (demons), Wyatt Earp’s lifelong kills protecting the town of purgatory, have resurrected in lively fashion and are all after the Earp’s to take down Wynonna, the Earp heir, who holds the power to send the Revnants back to hell with Wyatt Earp’s gun, peacemaker.

It spends time setting the tone, in season 1 of characters, stories, their views on the world, and who they really are, both individually and as a team. Cast of characters include:
Wynonna Earp, our main heroin, Waverly Earp, her younger sister, Doc Holliday (yep, the one and only), Xavier Dolls from the Black Badge (a secret division handling demons), and Officer Nicole Haught a rookie deputy who starts at the Purgatory Sheriff’s Station and quickly realizes there’s more to the town then meets the eye.

SPOILERS- SKIP AHEAD THE NEXT PARAGRAPH for the fan analysis if you want to watch without any further details! OR read on at your own peril, but trust me, if you are into hearing pieces of the show to entice you, these details are enough to make anyone watch.

As season 2 is under way we were left in season with Waverly touching the goo, giving us dark Waverly, popular nicknamed Gooverly, dark Wynonna nicknamed Goononna, both of which actresses Dominique Provost-Chalkley and Melanie Scrofano were phenomenal in their portrayals being possessed, a hand being cut off, singing, dancing, and now for the real kicker...Wynonna is pregnant. Though our heroin and Earp heir, we have seen time and time again that she is flawed. She has her ups and downs, struggles with the hard decisions she has to make and what seems like the weight of the world on her shoulders, but most importantly through all of this she is a real person, a strong woman. Now we will see her battle a whole new element as she still takes on Revenants and breaking the Earp curse all while fighting morning sickness and weird cravings? Well, we're definitely going to find out!

I also feel like special recognition needs to be given to another character that's grown leaps and bounds, Miss Waverly Earp. She has really come into her own and this season Dominque has done an incredible job playing episode after episode with hidden talents that would make anyone say, 'Wow'.

Nicole, played by the lovely Kat Barrell, is a character that has always been strong on the start and definitely a fan favorite that I couldn't see being played by anyone other then Kat. We see her even start to falter and feel the weight of protecting the town the group she cares for and her relationship with Waverly changing bring her to show her true self, and frustration with being excluded from Black Badge. She brings out many traits I think most people have felt in life with their job and life, portraying another very strong woman. She is very real and isn't afraid to show it which makes her very special for the show and one of a kind on screen.

Hats off to Emily for writing such a strong, female driven set of characters that we really don't see much in todays media and society. Stats on women in speaking roles from the top 100 movies of 2016 only accounted for 32%. If we review the 2016 estimated consensus you will notice that there are approximately a million more women born each year. So why aren’t we being portrayed more in film when we make up a quarter more of the population? It's a great question and seeing film and television take on these themes and break down barriers is a huge accomplishment. Wynonna Earp is a true example of what more of media should look like.

We can't forget our leading men of the show either!! Doc Holliday played by Tim Rozon and Xavier Dolls played by Shamier Anderson are both funny and heartwarming together. If put together or with any other cast member the chemistry within their scenes jumps off the screen.

Tim, a true fan of the show himself and just as much part of the cast as the fan base, is sweet, charming and so much fun to watch. His comedic timing, wit and care for everyone while still living in the grey areas of Purgatory allow for an interesting story arc. Any pairing together is heartwarming, funny, and adds new depth to the characters and their relationships.

Finally, the cast is just as much amazing on screen as they are off. Just recently voted best cast on social media (for good reason!), they are unlike any cast I’ve seen or had the pleasure of talking to. Each and every one of them take the time out every Friday to live tweet as a group or individually, watching the show with their fans and reacting with them, liking fan tweets, commenting on their observations, sharing behind the scenes photos and fun on set. There's also a great group of people surrounding the show in the form of podcasts, articles, interviews, live hangouts after the show and much more; all of which are attended by cast members regularly to visit, interact and answer burning questions we all have from that week’s episode. Every article I’ve read, podcast I’ve listened to and cast member I’ve interacted with is humble, sweet and so talented. It’s as if you have a big group of friends making a show literally just for you so that they can laugh, cry, joke and talk with you about it.

Pretty cool right? However, what is a show without it’s fan base? Essentially not something that can stand out in the crowd without people watching, but for this show the #earpers as coined in season 1 for the fans of the show are nothing if not persistent, supportive, interactive, devoted and above all else 100% all in to #politenochill their way to a season 3 which this show and it’s fan so greatly want.

Are you in for a great show on Friday night that you can laugh at amazing one liners, exude the emotions and feels and root for strong empowering characters? I am! Join in the fun, tag your tweets with #wynonnaearp and interact with a whole slew of fans unlike anything else.
<![CDATA[New Blog, New Topics, Are you Ready?]]>Thu, 13 Jul 2017 05:28:55 GMThttp://shelbywhiteonline.com/all-things-storylines-blog/new-blog-new-topics-are-you-readyHey Guys!
This week I’ve made a big decision to re-start up my blog and revamp it. Yes, I said revamp. I’ve decided to get back to my roots a bit because who doesn’t love diversity and interesting, true life reading material?

So, what does that mean for you guys? That means, every week I will be bringing to you a new blog post filled with the latest content in writing tips, tricks, my latest books in publication or that I’m working on and the piece de resistance, my true love of all things storytelling in the form of film and television.

I truly adore the art of storytelling and from a very young age not only fell in love with writing, but a deep rooted need for great characters and stories, coming to life on the big screen in movies and TV. Both run so closely together, it kind of becomes the chicken or the egg scenario for me in writing versus film. I couldn't tell you which comes first because to me they are circular and so closely connected to me. Similar arts in many ways and each such interesting aspects to them, but both have one large thing in common that fuels my creative soul to the very core, and that’s palpable, three dimensional characters and story arcs. They make you think, feel and give existence to so much in the world.

If you love book reviews, tv, writing, movies and more, stop in each week, leave your comments and join in the fun community I'm going to be creating with all new content!

See you soon!

<![CDATA[Writing Tip: Outlines]]>Tue, 24 Jan 2017 06:12:42 GMThttp://shelbywhiteonline.com/all-things-storylines-blog/writing-tip-outlinesHi Everyone! I hope everyone is having a good week! This weeks blog I thought I would discuss some writing tips.

Many times I get asked about tips and tricks for successful writing techniques. So I thought I would start with a great tip on how to really organize your current work in progress (WIP) by beginning your writing with an outline.

Outlines are a fundamental part of my writing process. I put outlines together for every book I write. It helps to keep all of my ideas, plot, characters and storylines in order. This way I don't forget anything, can keep things consistent and successfully plan a full novel.

Each writer has a completely different way of creating their outlines and no way is really wrong. Whether its bulleting main topics to go over or going into specifics from beginning to end of the themes and ideas you want to over, whatever keeps your ideas in order is the way to go.

If you have a great idea and are ready to put it to paper, try an outline and put all of your thoughts into it. Then you will be all ready for when you start writing!]]>
